CPR Coaching - Short History Of How CPR Guidelines Have Evolved Over Time
CPR training is not new to us but official training has just been in existence for around 30 years. But regardless of it's relative youth, CPR has a long history, the first time it was recorded as being used was in 1740 when it was recommended in the treatment of drowning victims by the Parisians.
It took a long time to become important to the medical treatment of casualties. It was not introduced by the US army until 1957. Over time in 1960 the American Heart Association introduced a program designed to train doctors and other medical persons in the use of cardiac pulmonary resuscitation. It was not until the late 1960's that the CPR training guidelines were formalized.
Coaching for common people started in the 1970's but it was not until the 1980's that emergency services started to deliver CPR steps over the phone to people trying to aid the patient of a cardiac arrest while awaiting the emergency services to reach. This sort of phone advice is now standard across America.
With the increasing availability of the web CPR agents have made an extremely powerful web presence. These programs may be fantastic but in reality you are wasting your money except the program is certified by the Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Studies have shown that the previous cardiac pulmonary resuscitation is applied the more likely a cardiac arrest victim might survive. With current survival rates being lower than 10% unless your heart stops when you are in hospital you're very unlikely to survive your heart stopping. If more people had their CPR qualification this statistic would improve considerably.
