In case you live in a city, have a desk job (and a nerve-racking one at that), drive an hour at least every day, and do not do exercise, then you probably are forcing your very own liver to do extra work trying to eliminate all that extra toxins.

Why is my body full of toxins?

Toxins are produced from several sources. The obvious one is the pollution in the atmosphere that we breathe in big metropolitan areas. We also get toxins from all the chemical substances that are in our food products, specially junk food or food products that has been refined to the point that it loses its nutritional value. Some of these chemical substances are preservatives and colorants in canned food. Also, when we are stressed out, we add our own toxins to the mix.

In order to clean our body from these toxins, a detox menu is suggested.

Why should I think about a detox menu?

A detox menu will eliminate those toxins in your body. You would feel better and more energetic once you follow one. Furthermore, you will make your liver work much easier, because the liver is the organ that takes care of the natural detoxification of your body. This would greatly lower the risk of a severe liver failure or liver condition in the future.

What does a detox menu consist of?

Although a detox menu varies from one health specialist to another, there are several common items to a lot of people.

First of all, a typical request is the prohibition of alcohol. Alcohol could be very hard for our liver to eliminate. If taken in big quantities for a long time period, it may begin accumulating scar tissue on the liver, which will lead to cirrhosis, a failure of the liver.

The next thing that is taken out of the picture by a very good detox menu is meat, and specially red meat. Red meat is also a hard thing to handle for our liver, though not as hard as alcohol.

Having uncooked foods is also common in specific diets. The reason that this is requested by a detox menu is that processed foods have a lot of chemical substances that aren't pure and may rest in our bodies.

Lastly, the most common denominator of any detox menu is drinking water; a number of it. Water is not only the most pure of substances, but it's the medium through which our natural detoxing system works. It allows us to eradicate poisons naturally, and it's a very powerful component of our bodies.
